It's only been a week since I visited Portland, OR and I'm still missing the city, its vibe, and the food. One of the places that I truly enjoyed eating was at Bollywood Theater PDX (<- check out the videos on their website!). Just being at the restaurant itself gave me a little insight of what India is like just by looking at their decor.
If you don't know much about Indian food (I'm still learning myself), a lot of the delicious, flavorful foods are street foods - foods that are sold at carts and stands:
Gobi Manchurian- Indo-Chinese fried cauliflower with lemon, curry leaves, and sweet and sour sauce |
I cannot live without curry (true story). Put me on a deserted island and I could just live off curry dishes every day!
Left: Pork Vindaloo- Portuguese influenced dish from Goa. Pork braised with red chile, garlic, and vinegar. Center: Goan Style Shrimp- Shrimp with curry leaves, chile, coconut milk, and lime. Served with saffron rice Right: Chicken Curry- Thigh and leg with an aromatic and creamy curry. Served with saffron rice |
Last food pic is a Kati Roll (my first time having it!):
Kati Roll- Found throughout the streets stalls of Kolkata. Kati rolls comes with your choice of chicken, beef, or paneer cheese. They're also stuffed with egg, pickled onion, and green chutney rolled in a Paratha flatbread. |
I love everything about this restaurant! I plan to eat here every time I visit Portland ;)
