For me and my husband's first year wedding anniversary, we spent the day at one of my favorite hotel/casinos on the Strip, the Bellagio. All we did was eat, drink, and be tourists all day!
Yellowtail
First we went to the Taste of the Town, Sushi & Sake Reception at Yellowtail. We got to sample different kinds of drinks and Japanese foods:
I enjoyed from learning a lot from the people who served all these drinks because they were quite informative about each of them. It reminded me that the science and art into making each alcoholic beverage are remarkable.
Picasso
Prix fixe menu:
Crème of Roasted Butternut Squash- this was a nice creamy soup to start off the meal:
I chose to get the Roasted Pigeon with Wild Rice Risotto as my main dish. This was the first time I ate pigeon and had to forget about the notion of what Americans typically think about these birds before eating it. This bird has been a delicacy to eat in other countries for centuries, so how bad can it be? Our waiter informed me that the pigeon meat is gamy, and it was very much so the definition of gamy! I've had duck before so the texture was similar between both birds, but the pigeon's dark meat was thicker and had its own distinct flavor which I found delicious! I absolutely loved the marinade that was used. So I suggest to you Americans who think pigeons are disgusting, get that notion out of your head and give it try. You won't be eating that possibly diseased bird you saw earlier walking down the street, the meat comes from domesticated pigeons:
Dessert menu:
Hazelnut Joconde- Gianduia Mousse, Vanilla Frangelico Ice Cream,
Chocolate Covered Hazelnuts. This were a tasteful pair:
Warm Chocolate Fondant- Peanut Butter Malt Ice Cream with Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge. The pairing of the fudge and ice cream also went well together. This chocolate was very rich and thick, so this dessert is highly recommended for chocolate lovers:
Picasso's art are placed throughout the restaurant, it was very nice to see some of this famous artist's work:
It was an interesting experience dining here, now I won't be afraid to eat pigeon!
