My first visit to Kabuki Japanese Restaurant in Town Square was quite a treat! When I entered the restaurant, I was impressed with the elegant mix of ancient Japanese art with modern art:
We were given edamame (boiled green soybeans) while we waited for our foods:
My fiancé and I were there during Reverse Happy Hour (starts 9pm until close on weekdays) so we could eat as much food as we can! When you order off the Reverse Happy Hour Menu, you get the 2nd item (must cost equal or less than the 1st item) for only $1, what an awesome deal!
Our first appetizer was Mixed Tempura which consisted of lightly battered shrimp and vegetables:
Our second appetizer were Calamari Rings. It wasn't too greasy and was lightly flavored, just the way I like it! The dark sauce tasted like sweet onion and the other tasted like mustard mixed with horseradish. I'm glad they gave us a generous serving of calamari:
The first nigiri sushi item I always order at any Japanese restaurant is Yellowtail (Hamachi)! I ordered four pieces of my favorites along with two Jumbo Scallops (Kaibashira) wrapped in nori. The fish and shellfish was fresh and cut well:
We then ordered two sets of regular rolls. The one on the right is Spicy Tuna Roll and to the left is the B.S.C.R. (Baked Scallop on California Roll). I liked the tinge of spiciness on the Spicy Tuna Roll had and also liked how the baked scallop complimented the California Roll.:
I later ordered a few of the chef recommended items off the regular menu. First one I got was the specialty roll, Lotus On Fire. It consist of spicy tuna, lotus root (fried), and jalapeño on top of a California Roll. When I bit into the sushi, I enjoyed the crunch of the root, it was so crispy!:
The other specialty roll I ordered was the Kabuki Roll. Its a spicy crunch roll topped with various fish. This sushi was so presentable, I didn't want to eat it right away!:
The last item I ordered was Cha Soba. Its basically chilled green tea soba. Soba noodles are made from buckwheat flour and is added with green tea leaves or powder:
This was the dipping sauce and garnishes (seaweed, green onion, and wasabi) that came with the Cha Soba:
I recommend going to Kabuki for any special occasion or just to chill and relax. You'll get your money's worth of eating fine, quality Japanese food!
